TA Training on Writing Feedback
Arts & Culturemerrimack
The UNH Writing Across the Curriculum (WAC) program can provide specific training to TAs on how to give feedback on student writing. We offer these sessions at the beginning of each semester. For fall 2026, the session will be held:Tuesday, September 1, 12:40-2:00pm (virtual only, via Teams--you will be sent a link after you fill out the registration form) REGISTER HERE Students need time and collaboration to learn the conventions of disciplinary writing. In short, the TA can serve as a writing coach who provides class-based assistance. We will go over the various ways TAs can provide feedback on student writing. We will share tips, techniques, and strategies for effectively providing comments on writing in progress. And, of course, we discuss when to defer back to the course instructor when necessary. TAs will come away with resources and support from the Writing Programs to help them feel successful as helpful mentors to student writers. Training is provided by the Writing Across the Curriculum office. Questions can be directed to UNH.Writing.Programs@unh.edu
